Nope you were not alone. I was caught reading when I should have been sleeping many, many times.
It was just last weekend that we were discussing how all of my siblings did it. My sister hid under her covers with a torch. My brother and I shared a room, so we put a sheet or blanket over the lamp shade (ended up melting the lamp shade…) to make a tent for us to read in. Mum implied she knew what we were doing, so it wasn’t as stealthy as we thought.
Breaking the ‘lights out’ rule at my boarding school was tantamount to plotting an escape from Colditz. I had a torch hidden in my teddy for reading as well as a tiny radio to listen to Radio Luxemburg – now that dates me!
Now that is commitment!
